"Demonsthenes" was then the psuedonym Valentine Wiggin used to disguise herself when she wrote her political columns. Together, she and her brother, Peter Wiggin, who wrote under the pseudonym "Locke," used their anonymity and brilliance to play off of each other and influence international opinion.
